What are accounting services in Lithuania?

Accounting services in Lithuania are outsourced bookkeeping, payroll, tax-filing, and financial-reporting work performed for a Lithuanian company by a professional accounting provider. The service processes the company’s primary documents, files the monthly declarations with VMI and Sodra, prepares VAT returns, and produces the annual financial statements that every company — UAB, MB, or VšĮ — must file with the Centre of Registers. Providers price the service as a fixed monthly fee based on document volume, employees on payroll, and VAT status.

№ 02 Honest pricing

What accounting costs in Lithuania — and what drives the fee

Accounting in Lithuania is priced as a fixed monthly fee that scales with five things — not by the hour, and not with surprise invoices. Most providers hide their numbers behind a “request our pricelist” form; we simply price your company upfront: describe it in one message and you get a fixed monthly fee in writing within 30 minutes during business hours. Written tax consultations start at €200, and tax setup for a brand-new business at €300.

The five factors that drive a Lithuanian accounting fee
Factor Why it matters
Documents per month Sales and purchase invoices, receipts, bank lines — the main volume driver.
Employees on payroll Each employee adds monthly declarations and payslips.
VAT registration A VAT-registered company files every month; a non-registered one doesn’t.
Activity type E-commerce with marketplace payouts takes more reconciliation than simple services.
Starting condition Clean handover, or catch-up work on neglected books.

№ 03 The compliance calendar

Lithuanian filing deadlines every company must hit

A Lithuanian company files monthly payroll declarations by the 15th, VAT returns by the 25th, and annual financial statements after shareholder approval — even when the company had no activity at all. This is the calendar we keep for every client; missing it is how companies collect fines.

What an employee costs in Lithuania — 2026 numbers

Lithuanian payroll puts most contributions on the employee’s side of the payslip: 19.5% social and health insurance plus progressive income tax of 20/25/32% (the three-tier system introduced on 1 January 2026). The employer adds just 1.77% on top of gross — so at the 2026 minimum wage of €1,153, your total cost is about €1,173 per month.

№ 05 Switching accountants

Unhappy with your current accountant? Switching is four steps

Slow replies, surprise invoices, reports only in Lithuanian — the usual reasons companies come to us mid-year. The handover is our work, not yours:

  1. 1

    You sign one authorisation

That single document lets us deal with your current accountant, VMI, and Sodra on your behalf. You never chase anyone.

  2. 2

    We collect the books

Ledgers, registers, declarations, and system access from the previous accountant — including cases where the relationship has gone quiet.

  3. 3

    We reconcile and take over

Opening balances checked against VMI and Sodra records, discrepancies flagged, and the books registered in our system.

  4. 4

    Filings continue without a gap

The next 15th and 25th deadlines are met as if nothing changed. Mid-year switches are routine, not risky.

№ 06 Questions owners ask

Accounting in Lithuania — FAQ

Do I need an accountant for my Lithuanian company?

Yes. Every Lithuanian company must keep accounting records and file annual financial statements — even with zero activity. Nearly all foreign-owned companies outsource this to a Lithuanian accounting provider rather than hiring in-house.

Can my accounting be handled fully in English?

Yes. You get a dedicated accountant who works with you in English, Russian, or Lithuanian. Reports, explanations, and every document exchange happen in the language you choose — the books themselves are kept per Lithuanian requirements.

How much do accounting services cost in Lithuania?

The fee depends on five things: document volume, employees on payroll, VAT status, activity type, and the state of your current books. Describe your company in one message and we reply within 30 minutes during business hours with a fixed monthly fee. Written tax consultations start at €200.

What taxes does a Lithuanian company pay in 2026?

Corporate income tax is 17% (7% for small companies with up to 10 employees and under €300,000 income; 0% for the first two years for new small companies). VAT is 21% once registered. On payroll, the employee bears 19.5% social contributions plus progressive income tax of 20/25/32%, and the employer adds 1.77%.

When does my company have to register for VAT?

Registration becomes mandatory when turnover in Lithuania exceeds €60,000 over 12 months — the threshold rose from €45,000 on 1 January 2026. Voluntary registration earlier is possible and often sensible for B2B businesses. After registration, VAT returns are filed monthly by the 25th.

What are the filing deadlines I have to hit?

Monthly: payroll declarations by the 15th, VAT by the 25th. Annually: financial statements approved within 4 months of year end (30 April for a calendar year) and filed with the Centre of Registers within 30 days, and the corporate income tax return by 15 June. Miss these and fines follow — keeping the calendar is our job.

My company had no activity this year. Do I still need to file?

Yes. Annual financial statements are due even for dormant companies, and skipping them risks fines and eventually removal proceedings. Dormant-company accounting is a reduced scope, so it is priced accordingly.

What does an employee actually cost in Lithuania?

At the 2026 minimum wage of €1,153 gross, the employer’s total cost is about €1,173 per month (gross plus the 1.77% employer contribution). The employee receives roughly €847 net after 19.5% social contributions and income tax with the standard tax-exempt amount applied.

Can you take over from my current accountant mid-year?

Yes, and it is routine: you sign one authorisation, we collect the ledgers and access, reconcile opening balances against VMI and Sodra records, and the next monthly deadlines are met without a gap.

I don’t have a Lithuanian company yet. Can you help me start one?

Yes — the same team registers companies for foreign founders: a UAB from €229 or an MB from €199, in 1–3 business days, fully remote. Mention it in your enquiry and we set up formation plus accounting from day one — the smoothest possible start.
